“The lines of Untitled (Pipe) come from textbooks by Joseph Di Leo, MD: Young Children and Their Drawings, 1970, Children’s Drawings as Diagnostic Aids, 1973, and Interpreting Children’s Drawings, 1983. I carefully cut out the lines and gestures from the pages of these books, separating them from their interpretive texts, in order to make new drawings.”
